Job Description
The Training & Development Specialist, with a focus on Instructional Design and eLearning, is responsible for designing and developing training on various topics, from outlines or scripts to engaging eLearning courses using instructional graphics and animations, PowerPoint, and Articulate Storyline 360 for a proprietary Learning Management System (LMS). This position will work closely with the client on-site two days a week in Center City or North Philadelphia, with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), a team of organizational development consultants, and experienced facilitators. The Training & Development Specialist is well-versed in the principles of adult learning, instructional design, e-learning, and various other educational technologies.
The Training & Development Specialist is proficient in using Articulate Storyline 360, photo editing tools, and Microsoft Office. The Training & Development Specialist must be familiar with instructional design principles, instructional technologies and skills, including course authoring, graphics, animation, and audio development software. They have experience with an LMS, a strong work ethic, the ability to hit deadlines, and a willingness to work collaboratively with internal and external partners.
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 per year
Essential Job Functions:
- Create and edit e-learning courses and content, as well as instructor-led courses tailored to clients' needs.
- Train the client on instructional design.
- Coach the client on the development of e-learning courses and Articulate Storyline 360.
- Communicate new techniques to the organization while collaborating with colleagues and clients to develop new courses and learning materials.
- Advise and collaborate with clients and content experts in the design/development of e-learning content.
- Make recommendations on approaches that enhance the quality of the learning experience.
- Review and recommend e-learning resources to supplement/enhance current tools.
- Develops course interfaces, instructional graphics, and animations that illustrate critical concepts and desired learning outcomes in online settings.
- Analyzes the end-user technology environment (desktop and network) to determine media, graphics, and audio development limitations.
- Selects media and graphical treatment consistent with technology infrastructure and learning audience needs.
- Where appropriate, convert existing instructor-led training to e-learning.
- Consult with the client and others to determine media and methods that are consistent with the audience’s location, learner profile, learning outcomes, and training program content.
- Serve as a consultant expert on instructional design methodologies and eLearning best practices, continuously monitoring the latest innovations in the field and the performance of new products.
- Provide guidance and technical expertise on client’s and PPI’s LMS.
- Troubleshoot issues with LMS and learning resources.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in instructional design, online learning, and learning management system (LMS) based program delivery.
- Experience with Instructional Design models and learning evaluation frameworks, including ADDIE and Kirkpatrick.
- Ability to develop attractive and engaging course templates.
- Ability to integrate interactive assessments, audio, and video elements into online courses.
- Thorough understanding of adult learning theory, synchronous and asynchronous learning, and learning evaluation methods.
- Create/identify assessments at various levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy.
- Analyze modules/learning categories relative to learning needs.
- Analyze the organization of content for learning effectiveness.
- Apply standards of instructional design principles.
- Write/identify correct learning objectives and assessment measures.
- Proficiency with online course development tools, including Articulate Storyline 360. Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, games, and simulations.
- Proficiency with eLearning standards such as SCORM and xAPI.
- Experience with graphic design is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as documentation abilities.
- Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
- Attention to detail and producing a high-quality final product.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external clients.
Required Skills and Education:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, related field, or relevant professional experience
- Minimum of 3 years of eLearning development experience
- Proven success in developing and executing online courses
- Ability to convert instructor-led curriculum to online courses
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, project management, and consulting skills
- Ability to learn technology quickly and use it effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (ability to build relationships across various organizational levels)
- Ability to work independently as well as thrive in a team matrix
- Strong work ethic with a commitment to high performance, quality, and service excellence
- Demonstrate flexibility and capability to perform in an ever-changing environment
- Demonstrated advanced proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Articulate Storyline 360
- Ability to assimilate and translate complex or technical information from a script into easily understood presentations
- Ability to find and select engaging images and graphics that are relevant to the content and style of the presentation
- Willing to show work samples, including e-learning programs built using online self-study development applications (such as Storyline)
