ABOUT THE POSITION
Orthopaedic Associates of Muskegon (OAM) is seeking a Medical Records Technician to join our Medical Records team. The Medical Records Forms Technician is a highly motivated, organized, and responsible individual who has the ability to work well independently as well as with others. Must be extremely trustworthy and respect the boundaries of confidentiality. Must possess HIPAA knowledge, above average computer skills and have the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Process medical records requests (to insurance companies, attorneys, rehab services, & other physicians), assign to Share Care or process continuation of care requests in house in a timely manner.
· Prepares billing invoices for records charges and posts charges.
· Obtain forms from box upstairs from Building A and B, scan to chart and put in Share Care bucket.
· Complete forms in house depending on circumstances.
· Answers calls from patients, lawyers, insurance carriers, etc.
· Processes subpoenas, print and mail to attorney.
· Check medical record bucket in Athena daily for record requests.
· Completes billing for records, forms filled out in house, etc. and enters charges.
· Make CDs of images for other doctors, chiropractors, or patient
· Collect patient ROI forms and release information per patient request
· Utilize prompt EMR system for release of i'move records
· Performs other duties as assigned.

8. Ability to communicate with insurance company dealing with FMLA and short term disability, as well as communicate with Share Care.
