As a 2nd Shift Machinist at Mate Precision Technologies, you will set up and operate various types of conventional and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers, and complete qualification of the parts produced.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set up and work on machines of moderate complexity and difficulty, such as grinders, mills, and EDM machines.
- Ability to work on non-standard products.
- Inspect work using gaging and inspection devices to verify conformance to specifications.
- Meet expectations for productivity and quality, and strive for continuous improvement.
- May train others, troubleshoot, or work with support groups, as needed.
- Participates in continuous improvement practices such as 5S, Kaizen events, value stream mapping, or other improvement projects or teams.
- Work to achieve the Work Center guideline certification.
- Follow guidelines established for work scheduling and understand delivery objectives.
- Report any machine or process problems.
- Work with the following tools: Kennedy box or equivalent, micrometers to 6 inches, 6-inch scale, pliers, screwdriver, and adjustable wrench. Ballpeen hammer and soft hammer, dial caliper, hex wrench set, calculator, indicator, swivel clamp, magnetic base, protractor, radius gage set, and edge finder.

Requirements:
Qualifications:
- A two-year technical college degree or a high school diploma plus 4 years of related experience is required.
- 1-2 years of experience setting up machine tools.
- Experience working with at least two different types of CNC machines is required.
- Experience using inspection devices.
- Experience working with computers and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of machine tooling, fixtures, products, and processes.
- Basic understanding of the machines and basic programming features.
- Ability to adapt when things change.
- Experience with inspection devices.
- Required tools: Micrometers to 6 inches, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches. Dial or digital caliper, .0005 indicator and magnetic base, other tools as required by the specific machines or jobs being run by the employee.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English, both in writing and verbally.
- Experience with reading prints.
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards.
- Good understanding of mathematical concepts and terms.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Frequent walking and standing.
- Occasional bending and stooping.
- Use of hand to finger.
- Lift, move and pull up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional lifting and moving up to 60 pounds.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Noise level is moderate.
- Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
Pay, Work Schedule, & Benefits:
- Pay Range: $29.17 - $37.36/hour plus $1/hour shift differential for 2nd shift
- Work Hours/Schedule: 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM Monday through Thursday
