Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Compensation: $37.00 - $38.00 / Hourly

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our growing finance and accounting team. This role is responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll while ensuring compliance with company policies, labor laws, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. This position offers opportunities for growth within payroll and broader accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Review and validate timekeeping records, payroll adjustments, and employee changes
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and taxes
- Maintain payroll records in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Coordinate with HR regarding new hires, terminations, benefits, and employee updates
- Prepare payroll reports and support month-end and year-end processes
- Assist with payroll tax filings, W-2s, and audits as needed
- Support payroll process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
- Prevailing wage experience a plus
- Experience with payroll systems or HRIS platforms (ADP, Paychex, Workday, or similar preferred)
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
