Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A part-time teaching opportunity is available to support a homebound 1st-grade student with special education needs in the Deer River, MN area. This role involves providing both Special Education and General Education instruction tailored to a student with cognitive impairments and an Other Health Disability (OHD). The student is unable to attend school due to COVID-19 precautions, so instruction typically occurs in a homebound or small in-school setting, with flexible after-school hours to accommodate.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minnesota teaching license required
  • Certification in Special Education (any area)
  • Certification in Elementary General Education preferred; dual certification highly desirable
  • Experience working with young students with cognitive impairments and OHD disabilities
  • Ability to deliver individualized instruction in a homebound or small group setting
  • Flexibility with scheduling, particularly afternoon or after-school hours

Location:

  • Deer River, MN area
  • Close proximity to Ball Club (9 min), Suomi (17 min), and Grand Rapids (17 min) for potential travel considerations

Responsibilities:

  • Provide approximately 10 hours per week of instruction: 1 hour daily for both Special Education and General Education
  • Develop and implement lesson plans suitable to the student's cognitive and academic needs
  • Communicate regularly with parents and school personnel regarding student progress
  • Adapt instructional materials to support student learning given health and attendance restrictions
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant educational and health guidelines
