Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A school located in Lakeland, FL is seeking a Special Education Teacher with experience in self-contained Exceptional Student Education (ESE) classrooms. This contract position requires a dedicated educator skilled in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), with the ability to balance behavior management and curriculum goals effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction tailored to students with special needs in a self-contained ESE setting
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and BIPs to meet individual student needs
- Collaborate with staff, families, and support personnel to promote student success
- Maintain a safe, structured learning environment while addressing behavioral challenges
- Track student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
Qualifications:
- Experience working in ESE/self-contained classrooms is required
- Proficient with the IEP and BIP processes
- Valid Florida Educators Certificate relevant to the grade level: K-6 for Elementary, or K-12 for Middle and High School
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to maintain behaviors and meet curriculum objectives simultaneously
Preferred Grade Levels: Kindergarten through 12th grade, with specific needs in Early Childhood, Elementary (K-5), Middle School (6-8), and High School (9-12) settings.
