National Sales Representative
Location: Houston, TX (National Territory)

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly driven National Sales Representative to develop and grow a multi-state territory. This role is responsible for building a strong book of business, expanding market share, and developing long-term customer partnerships within the steel and broader industrial distribution market.
Based in Houston, this position requires regular travel throughout the assigned territory. The ideal candidate is competitive, relationship-focused, and comfortable negotiating in a fast-moving, market-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and grow a book of business through warm leads, cold outreach, referrals, and in-person visits
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with purchasing managers, executives, and key decision-makers
- Gain deep understanding of customer operations, product applications, and supply chain needs
- Prospect and open new accounts within assigned territory
- Negotiate pricing and contracts aligned with market conditions and margin objectives
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and industry pricing
- Partner with inside sales and operations to ensure accurate order execution
- Coordinate with internal departments including credit, purchasing, production, and logistics
- Proactively monitor order status and resolve delivery or quality issues
- Maintain CRM records and manage pipeline reporting
- Travel regularly within assigned region
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3+ years of B2B sales experience preferred
- Experience in steel, metals, or an industrial distribution environment strongly preferred
- Strong negotiation skills and sound commercial judgment
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritize effectively
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated with strong prospecting and territory development ability
- Comfortable working in a competitive, fast-paced market
