Job Title: Lunch, Recess, and Carline Aide
Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County (ACADC) Lone Tree, CO
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Part Time
Reports to: Director of Operations
Work Hours/Days: School days, Monday through Friday, 11:30-3:345
Desired Start Date: August 2024
Position Summary
Monitors the conduct of students in the halls, cafeteria, playground, study hall and places where alternatives to classroom instruction are provided (e.g., detention hall) to maintain discipline and safety. Helps keep order on buses or in other school or system facilities. This includes traffic guards for loading buses, crossing guards for monitoring pedestrian traffic, and individuals who administer and monitor tests.
Essential Functions:
- Complete and document all training assigned by their direct supervisor in a timely and accurate manner
- Monitor students during lunch and recess to ensure their safety and appropriate behavior
- Enforce school rules and policies to maintain a respectful and orderly environment
- Address any behavioral issues promptly and report them to the appropriate school staff
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where all students feel safe and respected
- Encourage positive social interactions among students and help mediate conflicts when necessary
- Assist students with any needs or issues that arise during breakfast, lunch and reces
- Ensure all playground and cafeteria areas are safe and free of hazards
- Provide basic first aid when necessary and report any injuries to school administration
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies in accordance with school policies and procedures
- Assist in the setup and cleanup of the cafeteria before and after lunch periods
- Encourage students to clean up after themselves and maintain cleanliness in eating and play areas
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to the school administration
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents as needed
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required
- Collaborate with other aides and school personnel to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children in a school or recreational setting is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken English to effectively perform their job responsibilities and communicate in the workplace
- Ability to enforce school rules and policies fairly and consistently
- Basic first aid knowledge and the ability to respond to emergencies
- Patience, reliability, and a positive attitude
- Willingness to take responsibility for being on time and maintaining attendance as an essential part of job performance

- Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
- Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, and supervise students for extended periods
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
