Department: Manufacturing/Production - Ennis Job Status: Full Time/Non-Exempt

Amount of Travel Required: No travel required Positions Supervised: None

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm, with a 30-minute lunch.

POSITION SUMMARY

Using the “Safety First” approach, the Machinist will set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to set-up, adjust and maintain lathes, milling machines, drill presses, CNC equipment, etc. in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Fabricate, maintain, and repair a variety of tooling equipment and molds.
  • Utilizes drawings, instructions, sketches, or samples to ensure accurate production.
  • Calculates dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and instruments such as micrometer, indicators, and calipers.
  • Measure, examine and test completed parts for defects and conformance to specifications.
  • Monitors production adjusts feed and other settings, as necessary.
  • Determine appropriate tooling, machinery and material needed for certain jobs.
  • Communicates with Supervisor, Engineering and Manufacturing Partners to determine method and sequence needed to fabricate products maintaining dimensional integrity.

EDUCATION

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)

EXPERIENCE

Two to four years related experience.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Computer Skills

  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Learn MiTek's internal systems.

Other Requirements

  • May obtain forklift certification.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot production equipment, as required.
  • Identify and utilize appropriate tools.
  • Familiarity with operation of all tools, maintenance equipment, metal, and woodworking crafts
  • Ability to train others.
