Job Description

Job DescriptionHVAC VDC HVAC VDC/BIM Coordinator

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced HVAC VDC/BIM Coordinator to lead digital design and coordination efforts for mechanical systems. The role will focus on developing and managing HVAC BIM/Revit models, performing clash detection and resolution, and supporting prefabrication and shop drawing workflows to ensure constructible, code-compliant installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed HVAC/VDC models in Revit to LOD 300400 for coordination, fabrication and installation.
  • Perform regular clash detection and model coordination using Navisworks, Solibri or equivalent tools; document and drive resolution of coordination issues with design and construction teams.
  • Create and manage Revit families and sheetmetal details for fabrication-ready models and shop drawings; collaborate with fabrication teams to optimize designs for manufacturing and installation.
  • Implement and enforce BIM standards, naming conventions, and project-specific BIM Execution Plans; maintain model version control and deliverable schedules.
  • Produce coordinated MEP/HVAC drawings, schedules, and material takeoffs to support procurement and fabrication workflows.
  • Support prefabrication efforts by producing spools, assemblies and connection documentation aligned with field and fabrication requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, architects, contractors and trades to integrate HVAC systems with structural and architectural constraints and to ensure constructability.
  • Provide training and technical support to project teams on Revit, BIM workflows, and sheetmetal modeling best practices.
  • Participate in site coordination meetings and provide field verification support as needed to reconcile as-built conditions with BIM models.
  • Continuously improve VDC processes by identifying opportunities for automation, standardization and improved collaboration between design, fabrication and construction teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Technology, BIM/VDC or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in BIM/VDC coordination for MEP/HVAC systems on commercial or industrial projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit (Revit MEP preferred) including family creation, system modeling and view/template management.
  • Experience with clash detection and coordination tools such as Navisworks, Solibri, or BIM 360.
  • Proven experience with sheetmetal modeling and fabrication workflows; familiarity with CAMduct/Fabrication CAD or similar detailing tools is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, ductwork, fittings, insulation, hangers, and applicable mechanical codes and standards.
  • Experience producing shop drawings, material takeoffs and fabrication-level documentation (LOD 400).
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination sessions and communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines; proactive problem solver.
  • Professional certifications such as Autodesk Revit Certified Professional or other BIM-related credentials are a plus.
