Our client, a provider of Health, Dental, Vision, Medicaid and Medicare Healthcare service plans in the state of California with 4.7 million members and $22.9 billion of annual revenues, seeks an accomplished Clinical Pharmacist – Utilization Review.

Job Title: Clinical Pharmacist – Utilization Review

Location: REMOTE in CA

Duration: 6+ Months Contract

Pay Rate: $55 – $59 per hour (based on experience)

Schedule:

  • 8:00–8:30 AM start
  • 5:00–5:30 PM end

Must-Have Requirements:

  • PharmD degree
  • Active and unrestricted California Pharmacist License
  • 2–4 years of experience in prior authorization review

Job Description:

The Clinical Pharmacist applies clinical expertise to perform utilization reviews and ensure appropriate medication use while maintaining compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies. This role provides pharmaceutical guidance, formulary management support, and contributes to achieving departmental quality and efficiency goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply clinical knowledge of drugs to utilization reviews
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in a professional manner
  • Support drug formulary management and cost-saving strategies
  • Deliver high-quality service to members and providers
  • Provide pharmaceutical expertise to internal departments as needed
  • Meet departmental goals for review quantity and quality
  • Ensure compliance with utilization management laws and regulations
  • Uphold the organization’s Code of Conduct and brand reputation
  • Provide support and mentorship to less experienced team members
  • Resolve complex issues and problems as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PharmD degree
  • Active California Pharmacist License
  • 2–4 years’ experience in prior authorization review

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with claims processing vendors or prior authorization interfaces highly recommended
