Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of one year of ED experience, conscious sedation experience, and night shift availability with every other weekend commitment.

Details

  • Work in a 30-bed community Emergency Department with 14 Fast Track beds and additional hallway beds as needed
  • Patient population includes all ages and medical complaints; no trauma designation
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
  • Equipment used includes Alaris pumps, Panda warmers, Hamilton ventilators, Autopulse, GlideScope, AmbuScope, ultrasound, EKG machine, bladder scanner, and cast cutter
  • Epic EMR; experience preferred
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:30 PM–8:00 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • One major holiday required
  • Support staff includes RT, PCTs, phlebotomy, ED techs, unit secretary, 1–2 triage nurses based on patient flow, 24/7 charge nurse, and 24/7 on-site MD with ACP support

Requirements

  • Active RN license — VA state license or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS required
  • CPI/De-escalation training required
  • Copy of nursing diploma or degree required
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience required
  • Conscious sedation experience required
  • Must pass an EKG exam at orientation (two attempts allowed; study guide provided)
  • 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
  • Proof of address and candidate SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility

Additional Information

  • Provides, coordinates, plans, and evaluates nursing care within the ED as part of an interprofessional team
  • Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessments, develops care plans, implements treatment, and evaluates outcomes
  • Administers medications safely and serves as the point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments
  • Collaborates with outside agencies including EMS, law enforcement, crisis teams, and transfer centers
  • PALS is not required for this adult ED position
  • Travel team nurses are not eligible for this position
