PerkSpot is searching for a Lead Brand Designer to join our Creative team! The Lead Brand Designer plays a pivotal role in leading the design direction across multiple projects and ensuring the brand’s design is consistent and aligned with its vision. You will design highly-crafted and scalable solutions for our various consumer and B2B channels. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, adept at digital design, possesses strong illustration skills, and has a passion for creating visually compelling brand experiences. You are driven to build a brand that our customers love and demand.

This position is required to be in the office 3 days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. Our offices are located in River North just north of downtown Chicago, IL.

What you’ll accomplish:

  • Visual Rebranding: Work closely with the Creative Director to lead the visual identity and design strategy for the PerkSpot Brand. Craft beautiful brand experiences through branding, visual design and communication design to push the brand forward.
  • Digital Design Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in digital design, including responsive web design and engineering hand-off processes. Stay abreast of industry trends and implement best practices to create visually appealing and user-friendly digital assets and experiences.
  • Illustration Mastery: Utilize strong illustration skills to bring creative concepts to life. Create unique and captivating illustrations that enhance the brand's storytelling and resonate with the target audience.
  • Brand Consistency: Maintain and enforce brand consistency across all touchpoints, ensuring that design elements align with the established brand guidelines. Work closely with other teams to implement design standards consistently.
  • Creative Advocacy: Articulate decision-making processes to stakeholders, having the agency to stand up for creative decisions, and push them through to execution. Advocate for the creative vision and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners including marketing, product, copywriting and UX, to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to brand design.
  • Design System Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of a comprehensive design system that facilitates efficient and consistent design workflows. Implement design systems that scale with the company's growth.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Demonstrate the ability to approach design challenges with creativity and innovation. Proactively identify opportunities to elevate the brand through design solutions.

What we’re looking for:

  • 7+ years’ experience designing for an in-house creative department. Experience with a startup environment is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Graphic Arts, Advertising or Fine Arts highly preferred, but will accept additional experience in lieu of formal education
  • Proven experience as a Lead Brand Designer or similar role.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects, with an emphasis on branding, digital design, and illustration.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate and present design concepts effectively.
  • Up-to-date with industry trends and a passion for continuous learning.

  • Meet the team! We think our people are pretty great so we want to ensure you’re introduced to all of the right team members to help you succeed. You’ll spend quite a bit of time with our Creative Director, UX Designers, as well as our product and marketing teams!
  • Get to know PerkSpot! Immerse yourself in the business, engage with internal stakeholders, and participate in monthly company-wide All Hands meetings.
  • Sharpen your skills! You will become very familiar with the technology and tools that we use; Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and JIRA, just to name a few.
  • See your impact! Lead the design direction across multiple projects and ensure the brand’s design is consistent and aligned with PerkSpot’s brand vision.

The pay:

PerkSpot offers competitive industry rate salaries with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity and across teams and levels. The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $120,000 base salary plus a $4,000 annual bonus.

  • To help you get a jump start on company holidays, we close at 1 pm the day prior to each company holiday as “holiday eve.”
  • Tenure is valued and rewarded. In addition to PTO, we offer a paid Sabbatical for up to 3 months to employees at 5 years and 10 years of service.
  • Commuting can be expensive – we get it. So, we provide a monthly transportation stipend and free lunch every Wednesday.
