ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES SUPERVISOR
Hours and Wage Range:
This is a fulltime position at Guardian Angels Health & Rehabilitation. Wages $24.74–$28.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
Position requires a background check and clearance through the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
Personnel Responsibilities:
Oversee staff-related complaints and grievances, recruit and manage departmental staffing and scheduling, provide counseling and discipline, coordinate terminations with leadership, conduct performance evaluations, and ensure staff training, compliance with mandatory in-services, and understanding of individuals’ rights and responsibilities.
Safety / AWAIR Responsibilities:
Ensure a safe environment by following infection control and sanitation practices, using appropriate personal protective equipment, and adhering to safety, fire, disaster, and hazardous materials policies. Promptly report accidents, exposures, unsafe conditions, and defective equipment; use proper body mechanics and safety devices; operate equipment safely; participate in required training and drills; and coordinate isolation precautions, waste disposal, and equipment maintenance.
Regulatory Responsibilities:
Stay informed of applicable federal and state regulations and professional standards, recommend and implement policy changes, facilitate staff training related to regulatory updates, and comply with Vulnerable Adult/Abuse reporting requirements and the Individual Receiving Services Bill of Rights.
Environmental Responsibilities:
Maintain a clean, safe, sanitary, and orderly work environment, ensuring work areas are free from hazards and unnecessary equipment or supplies.
Individual Receiving Services Care Responsibilities:
Ensure privacy and confidentiality of protected health information, promptly report any suspected or known violations, respect privacy practices (including knocking after entry), and report all grievances or complaints from individuals receiving services, families, or visitors according to established procedures.
Individual Responsibilities:
Report and document complaints and grievances and actions taken, notify supervisors of any communicable or infectious diseases, and conduct weekly inspections of housekeeping functions to maintain quality standards.
Attendance:
Attend and lead required meetings, participate in assigned training and educational programs, and provide timely notice when absences are necessary.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required, with at least two years of supervisory experience (healthcare preferred). Training in maintenance or building codes is preferred, including boiler operation licensure or progress toward licensure.
Specific Requirements:
Demonstrate effective communication, professionalism, and compliance with company policies and the Code of Conduct. Maintain a positive attitude; treat individuals receiving services with dignity and respect; collaborate effectively with staff, families, and the public; and manage problem-solving and coordination responsibilities. Possess mechanical aptitude, technical skills, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to operate safety and communication equipment. Be adaptable, willing to learn, and able to work beyond normal hours when needed.
Work Environment:
Work throughout the care center and grounds under varied and sometimes stressful conditions, with frequent interruptions and interaction with individuals receiving services, staff, visitors, and agencies. Perform tasks involving physical activity, equipment operation, environmental exposure, and potential safety risks.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
Meet physical, sensory, and health requirements necessary to perform job duties independently, manage stress, lift and move required weights, assist in emergencies, and safely carry out physically demanding tasks.
