Pay Rate: $30 – $35 per hour (based on experience)
Job Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Patient Service Technician (Phlebotomy) to provide high-quality care through accurate and efficient specimen collection. This role serves as a front-line representative of the laboratory, ensuring excellent patient interaction while maintaining compliance with all clinical and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare staff while maintaining strict confidentiality
- Perform phlebotomy procedures including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks for patients of all age groups
- Collect additional specimens such as throat swabs and provide clear instructions for at-home collections (e.g., urine and stool samples)
- Process specimens by centrifuging, labeling, storing, and preparing samples according to testing requirements
- Accurately enter patient demographics and physician orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare, and laboratory protocols
- Travel between and support multiple collection sites, including site opening and closing responsibilities
- Perform mobile phlebotomy services at nursing homes, patient homes, and physician offices as needed
- Communicate effectively with physicians and clients regarding specimen integrity and test results
- Troubleshoot and resolve specimen-related issues, escalating concerns when necessary
- Maintain inventory, supplies, and cleanliness of phlebotomy areas and workspaces
- Participate in on-call rotation as required
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to support efficient, team-based operations
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent hands-on experience required
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record required
- Ability to travel between sites and perform mobile phlebotomy services
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology (assessment may be required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment
- Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and patient safety
