The barista is responsible for providing exceptional dining experiences for The Battery's members and guests through warm, intuitive, and personalized service. The barista must be able to perform technically sound service backed by comprehensive coffee and tea knowledge, and have the ability to anticipate needs and show a genuine sense of graciousness and hospitality to truly make The Battery feel like a home away from home for our members and guests. Baristas must actively embody The Battery's standards while in the workplace, both in interaction with fellow service team members, kitchen staff, guests, and management. All work related duties must be done onsite.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

GENERAL
- Basic knowledge of menu items, food preparation techniques, and culinary terminology.
- Advanced knowledge of coffee, tea and proper preparations of both.
- Working knowledge of coffee bar equipment and how to properly use and maintain it.
- Be able to clearly and confidently communicate with the service team, kitchen staff, and management.
- Be fully aware of service flow in all dining areas.
- Set up and break down the coffee and tea bar.
- Deposit china, glassware, and silver in a standardized and orderly manner in the dishwashing area.
- Able to read all POS order received in the beverage station.
- Ability to prepare all Tea drinks, coffee drinks, espresso and espresso-based drinks to The Battery standards on a consistent basis.
- Ensure coffee bar is fully stocked at all times with all items needed for service, including coffee, tea, dairy, and ice in an organized, neat, and hygienic manner.
- Maintain timely service for guests approaching the coffee bar as well as dinning room tickets.
- Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of workstation according to established restaurant procedures. This includes pre-shift, post-shift, daily, weekly, and monthly duties as assigned by management.
- Report any issues or concerns to management in a timely manner.
- Attend required meetings when scheduled.
- Adhere to work schedule and follow established procedures for schedule changes. Schedule may include participation in private dining room events and/or off premise catering events.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must have and be able to do all of the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous Barista experience required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Able to deal with guests in a professional manner while maintaining a composed demeanor in high stress situations.
- Flexibility with schedule: Evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must hold a valid Food Handler’s Card.
- Must hold a valid Responsible Beverage Service certification
- Ability to work up to 40+ hours per week in full-time positions.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
You must the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations and be able to meet the following requirements:
- Heavy member/guest contact is required.
- Must be able to tolerate varying noise levels, temperature, and illumination and air quality.
- Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Requires normal sense or smell, taste, touch and sound.
- Must be able to respond to visual or aural cues.
- Continuously or periodically bend, twist, lean, lift, push, pull, kneel, bend, walk, stand, and/or sit up to 8+ hours per shift.
- Lift up to 50 pounds in order to perform the essential functions.
- Work in a stressful environment and stressful situations.
- Work in an environment where climate constantly changes.
- Maneuver freely through all areas of the property.
Hourly Pay : $21/hour
Schedule : Sunday, 3:00 PM; Monday 3:00 PM ; Tuesday, 10:30 AM ; Friday 10:30 AM; Saturday 3:00 PM
