Once Upon a Childcare is looking for an experienced Floater to join our team!
As a lead floater, you will be doing breaks and substituting for teachers while they are out. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in all age groups and able to do a closing shift from 9:00 to 5:30.

Pay starts between $16.00 - $18.50 based on education and experience.
On-going pay raises for all employees are awarded based on meeting program standards and expectations. If you are a good fit for our program, we love to promote and help all our teaching staff grow! Career advancement is always available, and we are willing to assist.

Benefits:

  • Full-time staff members have the ability to earn up to 96 hours of PTO and 66 hours of sick pay a year. PTO hours do not expire and can roll over to the following year.
  • Holiday pay will be paid based on your average hours worked and paid to each employee after their 60-day probationary period.

Responsibilities:

  • Help teachers in multiple classrooms implement lesson plans
  • Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, etc.) to teach children
  • Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
  • Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
  • Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers, colors, art, etc...).
  • Track children's progress and report to parents
  • Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children's background and psyche.
  • Collaborate with other educators.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience working in a licensed childcare facility
  • Child development courses through an accredited college and/or EQIT/Pyramid Plus courses and/or a Level 2 or higher in the PDIS credential system
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
  • Excellent communication and instructional skills
  • Ability to act as a mediator between children
  • Cool-tempered, friendly, and reliable
  • Certification in child CPR or willingness to obtain
