Job Description:
Our Mother of Consolation Parish School is accepting applications for a dynamic and organized
Middle School Teacher for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Preferred candidates must have a
strong Catholic identity as well as being a certified teacher, having a degree in elementary education and with experience working with children in middle school education. Candidates should be personable, a team player and demonstrate a true love for working with young children with the ability to communicate to children, parents and colleagues.
OMC School is located in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia. It is convenient to both train
and bus lines. It is part of a historic parish campus, which was founded in 1855. The school
experienced a fire in March 2023; the building is currently undergoing reconstruction. The newly
reconstructed, state of the art building will be ready for occupancy in January 2025. Until the
new school is ready to be occupied, the school will continue in its current location at Chestnut
Hill College.
Our Mother of Consolation is a Middle States Accredited school and has achieved the National
Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia School of Distinguished
Instruction. Its governance model is Pastor and Principal, working collaboratively with the Board
of Limited Jurisdiction.
General responsibilities would include:
- Responsible for teaching 5th Grade Homeroom, 5th-6th Grade ELA, 6th Grade Science, 7th-8th Grade Religion
- Promoting Catholic values and help lead children closer to God
- Working with the other faculty/staff as a team
- Establishing and maintaining expected standards of student behavior using a positive classroom management approach
- Monitoring student learning, keeping them engaged, enthusiastic and on task
- Planning daily and long range lessons and activities
- Communicating regularly with parents about classroom activities, forming a partnership with each family and building trusted relationships
- Fulfilling any duties inside or outside the classroom as needed
- Performing any related work as required
