Construction Manager

LOCATION: Wild Horse Pass Corporate Center

COMPENSATION: $72,600-$85,000 DOE

HOURS OF WORK: Full-Time

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Assistant General Manager, Legal and Development

Position Overview:

A Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of construction projects from planning and initiation through completion. They ensure projects are executed efficiently, on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. Construction Managers play a crucial role in coordinating resources, communicating with stakeholders, and ensuring successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Resource Management:

  • Coordinate and allocate labor, equipment, and materials required for construction activities.
  • Monitor resource usage to ensure optimal utilization and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors, including selection, contracts, and performance evaluation.

Construction Supervision:

  • Supervise and manage on-site construction activities, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Monitor progress and quality of work, addressing any issues or delays promptly.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Checking plans and scope of work for various projects.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Maintain open communication with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and regulatory authorities.
  • Provide regular progress reports, updates, and status presentations to stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve any concerns, changes, or disputes that arise during the construction process.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
  • Implement safety protocols and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Address unexpected challenges or delays to keep the project on track.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure construction work meets or exceeds quality standards and specifications.
  • Implement quality control processes to identify and rectify defects or deficiencies.
  • Monitor and manage the inspection and testing of materials and completed work.

Project Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, permits, plans etc.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager or similar role in construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, methods, and materials.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
  • Solid understanding of budgeting, cost control, and financial management.
  • Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to enforce compliance.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will primarily be performed in an office environment.

An employee in this position spends some of their time in an office setting with a controlled climate where they sit and work on a computer for extended periods of time, communicate by telephone, email or in person, and move around the office or travel to other locations.

This position is also regularly required to perform site in all types of weather, including construction sites or industrial facilities. These may involve extensive walking over areas with uneven terrain, climbing to view property, exposure to inclement weather, moving mechanical parts, loud noise or machinery, chemicals or fumes and other hazards associated with these types of work environment. This position is required to have the mobility and stamina required to complete these types of site inspections.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for an entire shift/extended period. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
