Description:

The job of a Tube Technician is to use all the tools and equipment necessary to cut, bend, end forming, compression setting, braze, clean, and pressure test tube assemblies to meet customer’s specifications. A Tube Technician is responsible for accurately selecting correct raw materials, cutting tubes to proper length, bending to requirements, installing the specified fittings in their proper orientation, cleaning and testing all to customer specifications in an efficient manner. On occasion, they may be required to work overtime to complete a job on time or other duties, as the company requires. This position may be split between the tube and fabrication.

  • The employee occasionally will work in heat (weather); this position functions within a normal warehouse environment.

Physical Demands

  • The employee will occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch; the employee will regularly Stand; Walk; Use hands, fingers, to handle, or feel; Reach with hands and arms; Talk or hear; Must possess good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision; Distance vision; Peripheral vision; Depth perception; Ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be on their feet for 8 hours or more.
  • The employee is required to lift up to 75 pounds.

Tasks

  • Pull raw materials tubes and fittings in the quantities specified in the work order.
  • Operate CNC Tube Bender.
  • Operate Hydraulic bender.
  • Operate power & manual tools and equipment.
  • Operate lifting equipment (i.e. forklift).
  • Measure and Specify tube dimensions on production units.
  • Measure tube assemblies for verification to build tolerance of drawings.
  • Comprehend Cartesian coordinate info and rotation of plane view angles on 2D and isometric drawings.
  • Operate tag machines.
  • Operate a saw.
  • Operate deburring machine
  • Operate flare machines
  • Operate end forming machines
  • Assemble and set compression fittings to tubes.
  • Braze fittings to tubes.
  • Use calculator
  • Operate SAE hydraulic flaring tool set (double flare)
  • Clean (pig) tubes.
  • Pressure test tubes.
  • Cap tube ends.
  • Package tubes for shipment.
  • Maintain traceability and records on quality forms and or work orders.
  • Clean and maintain work area.
