Job Description

Responsibilities/Duties: The Graduate Resident Director (GRD) assists the Assistant Director in providing holistic, educational leadership while administering a comprehensive living-learning environment for a community housing primarily international students. Under the oversight of the Assistant Director, the Graduate Resident Director provides direct supervision over a residence hall and staff and assists the Assistant Director in overall community supervision. The GRD is responsible for facilitating community development enriched in the institution's values which enhances academic success and personal growth. In line with the mission of our university, GRD champions for the spiritual development of our students and demonstrate a commitment to the Christian ethics of love, forgiveness, patience, and faith as well as a desire to support students in their own faith. The GRD will assist in the supervision of the Residence Hall Association including running elections, advising group leaders and facilitating Fall and Spring training for Hall Association members. The graduate assistant will serve on at least one departmental committee and assist with other projects as assigned. The average workload is 20 hours a week but will include intensive full time training in August as well as intermittent increases in workload throughout the semester. Graduates are released during Winter and Spring academic breaks, however those who wish to stay on campus during breaks may be asked to participate in break on call duty. Living on campus is required

Minimum Experience Required: 1-2 years of undergraduate Residence Life experience (recommended), Concurrent acceptance and full time enrollment in a certified graduate program at Concordia University Chicago

Education Requirements: The GRD must have a bachelor's degree in a related discipline and must be enrolled in a Master's program at Concordia University Chicago in a related discipline.
