Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a skilled CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) to become a part of our organization’s competency dual diagnosis recovery team. The CNA will interact directly with clients, providing comfort and transportation, monitoring their vital signs, and assisting with daily living needs. We are searching for a dedicated, compassionate, empathetic, energetic, and flexible individual to be a vital link between our clients and the nurses and other facility staff. This is a 24/7 program and may require overnight and weekend shift coverage for the safety and well-being of all clients residing in the facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promotes and demonstrates the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Embrave.

  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with all departments, the management team, regulatory agencies, and community partners.

  • Embraces cultural diversity amongst ourselves and our community.

  • Responsible for the human, financial, and material resources as well as data and information entrusted to us.

  • Assist clients with personal hygiene.

  • Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.

  • Report observations of changes in client’s behavior or condition to direct supervisor. Record and document thoroughly.

  • Ensuring that safety protocols and procedures are carried out properly.

  • Following client privacy rules and applying professional ethics.

  • Gathering and stocking various supplies.

  • Provide infection control, implementing/using universal precautions, disposal of waste.

  • Check vital signs and record daily information in the client’s chart.

  • Provide basic client care and helping with activities of daily living (ADL) such as feeding, bathing, toileting, and dressing.

  • Communicate patient behaviors as needed.

  • Address concerning client behaviors using de-escalation techniques.

  • Assist the nurses and other staff as needed.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:  None

EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE

  • A high school diploma or GED

  • At least one 1 year of professional experience as a CNA or performing similar duties/assignments of a CNA.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA) preferred or as per state requirement.

  • CPR/First Aid & AED Certified

  • Certified in mediation administration OR CNA’s will be expected to take part in QMAP training within 60 days of hire and to successfully pass QMAP certification by 90 days of employment to remain in the position.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (not required):

  • Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT)

  • Experience in a mental health setting is preferred.

  • Experience with recovery and substance abuse.
