Summary: Packs finished parts to customer and or company specifications for shipments.
Checks freight bills, packing tickets, and material count to ensure proper billing. Works
from general procedures and instructions of the supervisor in tagging incoming materials
for movement to the plant. Loads, unloads, and moves materials within plant and/or near
plant yard, and work site by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following
• Load and unload trucks as necessary
• Pack finished product to instructions from customer and/or stand company
instructions
• Build skids, crates, and assemble cartons for product to be shipped to
specifications
• Inventory control of packaging materials as directed
• Check counts of required quantities to be shipped
• Visually inspect for missing, damaged or rusty parts
• Verify packaged parts are correct
• Move material in and out of packing areas as necessary using required material
handling equipment
• Responsible for UPS and COD shipments using UPS machine and scales to
determine postage
• Counts number of containers in a shipment against freight bill and reports over
and shorts to supervisor
• Checks material count made by handlers against packing tickets and reports overs
and shorts to the supervisor
• Makes out and attaches moving tickets to containers designating movement to
proper department within the plant
• Signs and attaches packing ticket to freight bill and places onto receiving clerk’s
desk
• Checks, sorts, and counts small incoming material packages such as perishable
tools and office supplies
• Moves material when necessary
• Read work order to follow oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to
be moved
• Opens containers
• Loads and unloads material onto or from pallets, trays racks and shelves by hand
• Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area
• Counts, weighs and records number of units of material or marks information on
cases, bales or other containers.

• Stack or assemble materials into bundles and bands bundles together
• Attaches identification tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases,
bales, or other containers.
• Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials
and products
• Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination
• Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly fashion
• Performs duties as assigned by supervisor

Additional Information:
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating
and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all measure, using
whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and
percent
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but
uninvolved written oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete
variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities: Position requires a working knowledge of floor scales, weigh
count scales, and UPS scales. Experience in using standard carpentry hand tools, and
various hand and power saws as required. Should be familiar with operating shrink pack
machine, plastic wrap machine, hoists, transtacker, forklift(s) and powered hand truck
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift license required (sit-down and Stand-up
High lift)

Educations and/or Experience:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
