Title: Instructional Technology Coach

Salary: $100,000 - $110,000 + $12,000 Temporary Cost of Living Allowance and MWA Benefits

Position Summary The Instructional Technology Coach (ITC) at Making Waves Academy (MWA) is a pivotal leadership role focused on technology integration, reporting to and collaborating closely with the Principal and Assistant Principals. They spearhead the continuous development of teachers' instructional practices, emphasizing the use of technology to foster innovation and academic excellence throughout the school. The ITC plays a key role in implementing and enhancing technology-driven instructional programs and practices while supporting the professional growth of faculty.

Working side by side with the Principal and Assistant Principals, the Instructional Technology Coach at MWA facilitates, monitors, and leads the continuous support of teachers in their development of instructional best practices. The ITC ensures that the entire teaching faculty receives coaching, support, and professional development opportunities to continually improve core instructional practices around technology. As an Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) member, the ITC contributes to building an achievement-focused culture and supporting faculty's professional growth across the school.

Primary Responsibilities

Intensive Instructional Development

  • Lead the integration of technology-enhanced instructional approaches by providing guidance and support to Lead Teachers and Content Leads.
  • Collaborate with APs and the Principal to design and implement technology-focused professional development plans for teachers, ensuring access to internal and external resources.
  • Offer comprehensive support to teachers in leveraging technology for effective instruction to achieve significant academic growth.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations focused on technology integration and provide constructive feedback to enhance teaching methodologies.
  • Collaborate with teachers to design engaging, technology-driven lesson plans aligned with MWA's Instructional Playbook and Principles.
  • Support teachers in implementing technology tools for classroom management, restorative practices, and social-emotional learning.

Instructional Systems, Tools, & Approaches

  • Monitor and assess technology-integrated instructional practices through various observation methods and data analysis.
  • Utilize technology tools and data to evaluate faculty adherence to efficacy-based instructional practices and inform decision-making.
  • Develop the capacity of lead teachers and content leads in utilizing technology tools and approaches to support faculty development.
  • Utilize technology platforms for collecting and analyzing complex instructional data to inform curricular decisions.

Curriculum

  • Facilitate collaboration among faculty to ensure the seamless integration of technology into vertically aligned instructional systems.
  • Provide leadership in implementing technology-driven curricular programs approved by the Board's Curriculum and Instruction Review Advisory Committee.
  • Direct the improvement of technology-infused curriculum through ongoing evaluation and revision of courses of study and adoption of instructional materials.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 7-10 years or more teaching experience required, with a demonstrated track record of integrating technology into instruction.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a lead/master teacher, instructional coach, or head of a technology-focused department.
  • Formal management, supervisory, or administrative experience is required.

Skills

  • Demonstrated commitment to MWA's mission and core values, with a passion for leveraging technology to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Strong ability to analyze data and utilize technology tools for instructional decision-making.
  • Experience facilitating observation and feedback cycles with a focus on technology integration.
  • Proficiency in coaching or supporting teachers in aligning instruction with Common Core standards using technology.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and highly effective communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-focused environment while effectively managing diverse constituents.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, or equivalent, preferred
  • California Teaching Credential or commensurate experience leading teachers

Licenses or Certificates Needed

  • Employment eligibility will include fingerprints, tuberculosis, and other employment clearances as necessary

Preferred but not required

  • California Administrative Services Credential preferred
  • Spanish language proficiency
