Orbital is currently seeking a Construction Supervisor to assist with substation construction in our St. Louis, MO office. The position plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supervises site activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters in accordance with client requirements.
  • Supervises the field activities of all the construction contractors
  • Prepares reports and records and include the summary of the ongoing project in it.
  • Monitors the budget
  • Monitors activities of the contractors and subcontractors and report if there is any irregularity in the activities
  • Oversees implementation of work packages and day to day functioning of the project.
  • Ensures the necessary work permits are in place.
  • Coordinates responses to RFI’s.
  • Oversees logistics of equipment and material delivery.
  • Performs other work as necessary or per client contract.

Minimum Requirements

  • Five years of construction management or execution experience.
  • Experience with substation design
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of construction and planning procedures
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings/schematics
  • Must be an organized person who can keep data organized from start to finish on a project
  • Ability to prioritize work on multiple projects
  • Computer proficiency including general office products, design, and business enterprise software
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Reasoning skills and ability to solve practical problems
  • Must have dependable transportation and a valid driver’s license with insurance
  • Must be able to pass a fit for duty test
  • This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 40 preferred.
