Reports to: Director of Advocacy and Impact                                   Location:  Dakar, Senegal

   Niyel is an international firm specializing in campaigns, advocacy, political influence, and public affairs, based in Dakar since 2008 with offices in Kigali and Port Louis.   • Collaboration and relationships built with hundreds of development organizations, governments of civil society as well as political and cultural actors

 Proven experience in : 

o research and analysis of situations and issues 

o the development of advocacy strategies and 

o the planning, implementation, and evaluation of campaigns.  

OVERVIEW

You will Lead program activities and a team to ensure goals are achieved on time, within budget and achieve expected outcomes 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Define the programs governance
  • Lead program development and planning 
  • Establishing and handling client expectations
  • Serves as hiring manager for the project teams
  • Managing both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects
  • Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the program
  • Managing risks to the program's successful outcome
  • Develop communication strategy and point person to work with communications department
  • Development and management of budgets
  • Partner with Director of Advocacy and Impact on project strategy development and implementation
  • Ensuring there is allocation of common resources and skills within the program's individual projects
  • Initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the program are identified or issues arise
  • Reporting the progress of the program at regular intervals to the Director of Advocacy & Impact 
  • Develop a comprehensive project plan, defining the project's scope, and assigning duties to members and the development deliverables and deadlines


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

As a prerequisite, the Program Officer must believe in the core values of Niyel Innovation, Accountability, Ethics, Positive Work Environment and be driven by the mission. The candidate should demonstrate a passion for breaking new ground to lead social change. Beyond that, we are seeking a flexible and dynamic candidate capable of managing multiple logistics and administrative tasks on different projects 


Key Qualification

University degree – Master or Bachelor level in international development or related field or equivalent experience


Skills and Experience

  • 7-10 years of proven experience as a Program Manager in the international development and/or humanitarian sectors 
  • Fluency in oral and written English and French is required
  • Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods
  • Excellent Knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles
  • Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
  • Proven knowledge of and experience in organization, planning, scheduling, program strategy, reporting, proposal writing, and budget planning.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Proven stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven experience managing a team.
  • Experience using technology for a variety of tasks.
  • Competency in Google applications including Docs, Sheets, Meets, Chat, and Calendar.
