SECURITY TECHNICIAN

ERES COMPANIES | MIDLAND, TX

THE OPPORTUNITY WITH ERES!

We are seeking for an experienced security technician to join our Midland team. The ideal candidate would be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing electronic security systems to ensure the protection of people, property and information. The Security Technician will be intimately involved with various security systems, such as access control systems, CCTV and fire alarms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interact with subcontractors as needed, to complete jobs.
  • Work with NETOPS and SYSOPS personnel to connect and maintain devices on networks.
  • Interact with IT Infrastructure personnel to install equipment in IDF and MDF rooms.
  • Assist supervisor in scheduling work and determining supplies and needs for projects and clients.
  • Perform a variety of skilled work, to include but not limited to -  prioritize maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment, schedule and coordinate the work of assigned staff and contractors to accomplish a wide variety of duties related to the security and building trades.
  • Assist in the purchase, installation, repair, and maintenance of various CCTV, DVR, door hardware, and access devices on the networks.
  • Ensure stake holders (Security staff, Maintenance Technicians and contractors) are in compliance with ERES safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct proper repair/maintenance work on systems, equipment and machines. To include but not limited to - gate controllers and other mechanical access devices.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with electronic security systems, to include but not limited to, diagnostic tools, testing equipment and technical manuals to pinpoint problems and implement solutions.
  • Provide training to clients and/or end-users  on how to use/maintain their systems effectively and safely
  • Maintain accurate records of installation, maintenance, repairs and system configurations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
• Scheduling, laying out and assigning work.
• Appropriate health and safety precautions and procedures.
• Technical aspects of field of specialty.
• Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Basic record-keeping techniques.
• Requirements of maintaining buildings in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
• Trade tools, equipment, materials, methods and techniques used in skilled and general maintenance and repair involving at least one of the following: electrical, CCTV, door hardware and locksmith, access control and the network.
• Federal, State, and local building codes and regulations.

• Perform a wide variety of skilled journey-level work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
• Prioritize, schedule, assign and review work.
• Train and provide work direction to assigned personnel in the performance of a wide variety of duties related to the building trades.
• Interpret, explain and apply codes, rules, and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities, i.e., NFPA, NEC codes, etc.
• Effectively and safely operate a variety of assigned tools and equipment.
• Interpret blueprints, zone maps, and work orders to others.
• Understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Work independently with little direction.
• Meet schedules and timelines.
• Maintain routine records.
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
• Observe legal and defensive driving practices.
• Lift heavy objects.
• Spot potential life safety hazards that need to be addressed.
• Work at various heights from scissor or boom lifts or on towers.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Scheduling, laying out and assigning work.
  • Breadth and depth experience in health and safety precautions and procedures.
  • Basic record-keeping skills.
  • Experience with electrical, CCTV, door hardware and locksmith, access control and networks. Required.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and local building codes and regulations.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of skilled journey-level work in the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret, explain and apply codes, rules, and regulations involved in assigned maintenance activities, i.e., NFPA, NEC codes, etc.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Trade license(s) in one or more of the following - Required:
    • Electrical
    • CCTV installation and maintenance
    • Security installation and maintenance
    • Network administration

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee must meet physical demands in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must frequently lift, push, pull and/or move up to 100 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is also occasionally required to work both from ground level to 20-30 feet on a ladder or lift. The Technician is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work from various positions.

  • Knowledge of and compliance with relevant occupational health and safety regulations and standards associated with maintenance operations and construction services is required
  • Perform all activities in compliance with Company Safety policies
  • Customer centric disposition; polite and courteous manner and in accordance with the Company’s Code of Conduct
  • Ability to read and interpret building and site plans
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driving License for the state in which services are to be performed; own a reliable vehicle and provide proof of insurance
