About the Position

 The Barista is a critical member of the Jack's Stir Brew Coffee experience. They are responsible for providing an exceptional guest experience. Our stores are fast paced environments and candidates must be able to maintain a positive, upbeat vibe while performing job specific duties.

 All Baristas go through an extensive training program. Our training is structured so that Baristas build a strong product-knowledge foundation, gain exceptional hospitality skills and learn to handle all stations and shifts within our stores. They report to the Coffee Shop Manager, but will generally work under the direct supervision of Assistant Coffee Shop Managers or Shift Leads.

Essential Functions

 Guest Experience:

 Greet all guests with a smile and provide friendly, efficient service

Create a rapport with guests by learning their names and favorite products

Educate guests and provide information on all food, beverage and marketplace products

Take guest orders and process payments using our POS system

Offer additional and complementary products (upselling)

Prepare coffee, tea and espresso based dinks (both hot and cold)

Prepare a variety of food items

Bag, box, wrap, or gift-wrap customer purchases

Assist the Bar, Food and Barista stations during rush periods

Issue refunds, credits, or comps with supervisor approval

Resolve guest complaints

Assist in maintaining clean and orderly stations and front of house

Help maintain consistent high product standards and brand experience

Store Operations

Conduct cash counts and balance cash registers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that all transaction amounts are verified and correct

Compute and record totals transaction at shift's end

Assist Assistant Managers with store inventory counts, stocking shelves

Assist Shift Leads with store opening and closing

Communicate with team members and management to solve problems and improve service

Support a positive work environment

Other duties and side work as assigned

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required

At least  (2) year's of barista experience.

Qualifications:

Be well versed in performing monetary transactions such as giving and receiving change

Previous experience operating a POS terminal

Previous experience maintaining/balancing cash drawer during shift changes

Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to keep calm and effectively communicate during high-pressure and transaction-heavy time periods

Strong attention to detail and healthy respect for cleanliness and sanitation

Open to constructive criticism and constantly striving to improve

Ability and willingness to perform light housekeeping duties and additional side work

Time & Physical Demands

Availability to work a minimum of 4 shifts per week (20-35 hours)

Availability and willingness to work early mornings and/or on weekends

Ability to stand for an extended period of time and move about the café

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Use of hands -- ability operate POS terminal and café machinery

Talk/hear -- frequently communicate with customers & staff

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a dynamic, high-volume café setting

The work environment can be noisy during peak hours
