Job Description

CMT Engineering Laboratories is currently seeking Construction Inspectors and Technicians to join our team in Phoenix Arizona.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provides project construction inspections and/or materials testing support for projects that involve construction activities for transportation, civil, and structural building projects;
  2. Inspectors monitor construction operations for compliance with contract provisions, drawings, and specifications;
  3. Technicians provide construction materials testing of soils, asphalt, concrete, masonry, structural steel, and other misc. items;
  4. Often includes extended hours and may include assignments on projects throughout Central Arizona.

Role Requirements

  • Certifications with ATTI, ACI, ICC, AWS, Nuclear Density Gauge;
  • Proficient in construction inspections;
  • Proficient in specifications and plan interpretation;
  • Possess good mathematical skills;
  • Experience performing independent analysis and problem-solving;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; experience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge;
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully in a team environment;
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required;
  • A valid driver's license is required;
  • Must pass a drug test, physical, and background check and must have a satisfactory driving record following the Company's driving (MVR) policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Considerable knowledge of roadway, buildings, structure, construction methods, procedures, practices, plans, and specifications; materials used and performance and safety responsibilities related to the construction of transportation facilities, civil work, and building construction;
  2. Knowledge in the use of electronic data processing equipment and contract management software;
  3. Knowledge of general inspection and testing principles; safety; and quality control-quality assurance principles;
  4. Skill in the use of nuclear density, and materials testing equipment; and
  5. Ability to interpret roadway, civil, and/or building plans, specifications, and codes.

Physical Demands

  • Lifting of concrete cylinders, wheelbarrows, and other tools is necessary; Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds;
  • The position may require work in adverse weather conditions, long hours, night shifts, and weekends.
