POSITION: Associate/Assistant Professor and Director of Social Work Program

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time Faculty

The University of Sioux Falls offers a unique opportunity to lead the Field Experience of an established social work program at a private Christian University. MAJOR FUNCTIONS

The principal responsibilities of this position is to teach, oversee, and lead the Field Social Work CSWE accreditation.

The assignment as a Social Work faculty includes teaching on-ground and online undergraduate courses and directing the field experience for social work students. Major responsibilities include maintaining professional scholarship, on-campus office hours, and outcomes assessment; advising social work major students; serving on faculty committees and participating in the life of the university and community while collaborating with existing faculty members. USF faculty must be committed to academic excellence in a Christian liberal arts environment with a focus on excellence in the classroom and in the social work field, with a heart for mentorship required.

The responsibility of this position is to teach and oversee and lead the Field Social Work program specific to CSWE accreditation (including annual reports, assessment, data collection and analysis, and to assume primary responsibility for writing the relevant portions of the program's self-study for field education).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MSW from a CSWE-approved program
  • Minimum of 3 years' post-MSW experience in social work practice
  • South Dakota Social Work license or ability to obtain at least LGSW status
  • Demonstrated understanding of current CSWE EPAS standards or ability to learn
  • Demonstrated proficiency in teaching undergraduate social work courses at the college level
  • Commitment to working with a diverse student population
  • Demonstrated excellence in written, oral, and interpersonal communication
  • Commitment to academic excellence, the Christian faith, and a Christian liberal arts higher education environment
  • Successful completion of a required background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Social Work or closely related field
  • Evidence of superior teaching in higher education on-ground and online
  • Experience with the CSWE accreditation process

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching areas may cover introduction, theory, research, and practice courses, including micro and macro practice and liberal arts general education courses. Traditional undergraduate teaching and online teaching are expected of the successful candidate. Overseeing the EPAS compliance of the Social Work program specific to accreditation and leadership within the Social Work program. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the recruiting and orienting adjunct instructors, strategic planning, promoting the University's Social Work program by meeting with prospective students, developing policies, criteria, growing the social work major, and collaborating on procedures for meeting with prospective students and accepting students into the social work major.
