Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and overseeing all functions within the unit or department during their assigned shift. Working alongside other management team members, the CNC directs, monitors, and assesses nursing care in line with established policies and procedures. They serve as a resource for staff and exemplify a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values, thereby enhancing patient experiences and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality care.
  • Engages in ongoing assessments of the quality of patient care services in collaboration with the management team.
  • Works with subject matter experts and other managers to foster a teamwork-oriented environment that enhances outcomes and service quality.
  • Promotes a patient-first philosophy and participates in service recovery when necessary.
  • Assists in enhancing staff engagement by implementing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly check-ins.
  • Provides input on interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and executes actions related to training, conflict resolution, compliance with personnel policies, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures to ensure a competitive organization.
  • Assists with staff scheduling and manages labor aspects in accordance with patient care needs and productivity guidelines.
  • Helps maintain proper inventory control and assists in managing supplies and equipment.

Qualifications Required:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of starting employment.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course certification must be obtained within one year of starting employment.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course certification must be obtained within one year of starting employment.
  • Must be a Registered Nurse.
  • Possess an Associate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in nursing.
