Position Overview:
A nonprofit organization is looking for a dynamic and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations and enhance the fiscal health of the organization. The CFO will handle developing and implementing financial strategies, producing monthly financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance, general accounting, control of the General Ledger, cash management preparation for audits, and ensuring the sustainability of our mission-driven services in the healthcare sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Planning:
Develop and execute short-term and long-term financial strategies aligning with the organization’s goals.
Forecast future financial performance, analyzing key financial metrics and trends.
Financial Management:
Oversee all financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations.
Manage cash flow and working capital to keep organizational liquidity.
Complete monthly financial reports for presenting to the Board of Directors
Hands-on day-to-day management of the grants of the Research Institute
Enhance the financial management of the foundation fundraising reporting
Experience with New Markets Tax Credits accounting standard and financial management
Budgeting & Reporting:
Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
Prepare and present prompt financial statements, reports, and analyses to the board and executive leadership.
Risk Management:
Identify, assess, and manage financial risks, ensuring that proper controls are in place.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as reporting requirements.
Team Leadership:
Mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with other departments to support organizational growth and development.
Investment & Fundraising:
Manage investments and develop strategies for fundraising to support ongoing operations and special projects.
Engage with stakeholders, including donors, partners, and financial institutions, to enhance financial sustainability.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
CPA or other relevant professional certification preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in healthcare or nonprofit sectors.
Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, healthcare finance, and federal grant accounting.
Proven record of accomplishment in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and risk management.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster relationships with stakeholders.
