Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A contract opportunity is available for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education, utilizing telehealth services in the Hoboken, NJ area. This role involves delivering specialized instruction and support to students requiring auditory and speech development assistance through virtual platforms.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting remote evaluations and individualized instructional sessions for students with hearing impairments
- Collaborating with families, speech therapists, and educators to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitoring student progress and adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Providing guidance on the use of assistive listening devices and technology
- Maintaining detailed and accurate documentation of student interactions and progress
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience delivering instruction via telehealth platforms
- Strong knowledge of auditory verbal therapy techniques and assistive technology
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, families, and school personnel remotely
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills
