Position Summary:
The Equipment Operator performs duties relevant to safely and effectively operating heavy equipment in the course of daily operations. The Equipment Operator also makes sure the operations floor is clear of obstacles, as well as that traffic flows smoothly, efficiently, and safely to maintain production.
Your Role:
- Safely and effectively operate heavy equipment to maintain productivity in the effective operation of the transfer starting or material recovery facility during daily operations.
- Ensures that the operation area is consistently clear of obstacles and that traffic is flowing smoothly.
- Performs general house duties in assigned areas to ensure safe, clean, and efficient operation of the facility.
- Keeps the entire floor clean and maintained by use of bobcats, front-end loaders, excavators, and/or similar equipment such as industrial forklifts, man lifts, and skid steer-type loaders.
- Loads and monitors the conveyor system with a loader based on the facility.
- Load and unload trucks with a skid steer and forklift based on a daily schedule.
- Performs routine maintenance checks on mobile equipment and facility equipment and reports malfunctions to the Supervisor.
- Work all assigned shifts from the scheduled start to the scheduled end time.
- Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace.
- Reads, understands, and applies information such as lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
- Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
- Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.

- Ability to complete safety, operational, and other required training within a scheduled time.
- Communication skills sufficient to complete required job functions.
- Demonstrated mechanical ability sufficient to complete routine tasks.
- Demonstrated success in the use of required safety equipment.
- Gritty, outgoing, and eager to learn.
- Strong communication (verbal and written)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- The environment is fast-paced, and the person in this role must be proactive, hardworking, highly organized, and an independent critical thinker.
Desirable, although not essential, requirements:
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience as an equipment operator in a plant environment; or 5 years of related experience, which includes training in a plant environment.
