Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position offers an opportunity to support K-12 students in a specialized educational setting focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role is a contract assignment beginning on March 17 and continuing through approximately May 15. It involves working with a caseload of 10 students diagnosed primarily with ASD, serving 5th and 6th grade levels.
Located in Aurora, CO, this role is within a licensed facility school dedicated to meeting the needs of students with moderate to severe behavioral challenges. While students are supported by Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) in 1:1 or 2:1 staffing ratios to assist with behavior management, teachers are responsible for fostering student participation and academic progress despite behavioral impacts.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and delivering individualized instruction tailored to students with ASD
- Collaborating with RBTs and other educational staff to support student engagement and learning
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly
- Maintaining detailed records for each students educational goals and achievements
- Ensuring a safe, supportive, and structured learning environment
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Special Education Teaching certification or licensure
- Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Comfort with moderate to severe behavioral challenges in a school setting
- Strong collaboration skills with interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to maintain focus on educational outcomes while managing environmental challenges
Schedule details: Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
