Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A school district in Egg Harbor Township, NJ is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students and staff in an educational setting. This role requires proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) to facilitate clear communication and ensure equal access to learning for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to accommodate students communication needs
  • Assist in creating an inclusive learning environment by promoting understanding of Deaf culture
  • Travel as needed between school sites within the district to support various programs
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards at all times

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience working as an interpreter in educational settings preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups
  • Knowledge of educational terminology and instructional strategies is a plus
  • Flexibility to travel within the district and adapt to varying school schedules
