Summary:
The Warehouse Supervisor plans, organizes, and supervises day-to-day receiving, material handling, warehousing, and shipping activities in order to provide for a smooth flow and safe storage of materials within the facility and to provide optimum customer service in the safest manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Trains and directs material handling personnel involved in the transfer of materials into, through and out of the facility.
- Maintains close communication with Customer Service personnel and selects appropriate lots of finished product which meet customers' specifications.
- Arranges transportation of orders requiring TL, LTL and air transport insuring efficient, cost effective customer service. Completes associated order picking and carrier selection entries in Navision and generates required shipping documents.
- Supervises the physical order picking, staging and loading of all truckload shipments to customers. Verifies picked material is accurate per a given pick list for all outbound shipments.
- Oversees receiving of direct and indirect materials. Verifies and reviews associated receiving entries into ERP system for correctness and accuracy.
- Supervises the general housekeeping activities associated with the warehouse and outside storage areas to maintain a clean, safe facility utilizing 5S techniques
- Ensures compliance with the Company's safety program in the warehouse and OSHA regulations in the shipping/receiving area
- Ensure accountability of all material in warehouse and proper organization of material within the warehouse
- Must be knowledgeable enough of the various functions to be able to represent the entire department at plant-level meetings and functions.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
- Provide regular status updates to the Materials Manager. Communicates all challenges and escalations that will impact Kymera’s ability to execute a given shipment plan.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises all employees in the Materials Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements:
Competency:
- Performs periodic inspections of forklifts and other material handling equipment and recommends maintenance as required.
- Instructs material handling personnel in the safe operation of all equipment and provides continuous safety training.
- Selects appropriate LTL, FTL, small parcel, and air transportation services to provide for delivery of product to meet customers' requirements.
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of proper operation of material handling equipment, trucking and air transportation services, order picking and safe, cost effective loading of truckload and less than truckload shipments.
- Must have good interpersonal and training skills.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, shipping/receiving, or supply chain in a manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years as a team lead or higher in logistics, production material handling, or supply chain
- Knowledge of freight and transportation regulations and documentation such as the National Motor Freight Classification systems (NMFC) and Codified Federal Regulations (CFR) relating to freight
- Prior experience in utilizing 3PL/4PL and Third Party Manufacturers
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to area, weight, volume, and density.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint); experience with ERP or WMS systems strongly preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift Certification, DOT Hazardous Materials Shipper Certification and RCRA Hazardous Waste Shipper training or the ability to obtain certifications.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- Work is performed in an office and warehouse/manufacturing setting.
Working Conditions:
- Warehouse environment with exposure to noise, heavy equipment, and varying temperatures.
- Regularly required to lift heavy objects, operate machinery, and stand for extended periods.
- May involve overtime and weekend shifts, depending on workload.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to wear the required protective equipment and devices. Have physical ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
