A professional nursing opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse with step-down or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) expertise. This contract position offers the chance to provide critical care to patients requiring close monitoring in a dynamic hospital setting. Exceptional clinical skills in managing high-acuity patients will be highly valued.

Based in the Kansas City metropolitan area, this role is situated just outside the urban core, offering a balance of city amenities and suburban living. Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a PCU RN
- Experience with high-acuity patients, including proficiency in managing drip medications
- Familiarity with arterial lines and non-invasive ventilation such as BiPAP or Airvo is preferred
- Current RN license in the state
- Certification in ACLS and BLS required; NIH Stroke Scale certification is a plus
- Willingness to float to lower acuity units as needed
- Ability to work every other weekend and major holidays, with scheduling flexibility provided by management
Schedule:
- 12-hour night shifts (1845 0715)
- Orientation scheduled weekdays, 8 am 5 pm
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in a PCU environment
- Perform ongoing patient assessments and effectively communicate changes in condition
- Administer medications, including IV drips, and manage specialized equipment such as arterial lines and respiratory devices
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Adhere to facility policies, including maintaining nicotine-free compliance
