Position: NPI Automation Engineer
Location: Valley Green, PA
Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking a Automation Engineer to join our Cable Backplane Systems engineering team. The position will be located in Valley Green, PA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with NPI engineering teams to integrate automation into new product builds.
- Review product designs to identify automation opportunities and constraints.
- Provide input on fixture design, part orientation, and material handling for automation compatibility.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability and scalability of automation solutions.
- Support installation, commissioning, and validation of automation systems at international sites.
- Train global teams on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Assist in scaling automation solutions from pilot to full production globally.
- Support upgrades and retrofits of automation systems to improve performance and reliability.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2+ years of experience as an Engineer in a manufacturing environment with a bachelors or associatedegree in a technical field or 5+ years of experience
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
- Experience with robotics systems (e.g., FANUC, ABB, UR) and robotic integration.
- Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, sensors, and actuators.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and control diagrams.
- Experience with vision systems, barcode readers, and part inspection tools is a plus.
- Willing to travel globally and spend a significant amount of time in executing automation deployment; significant travel requirement (50%+)
