Job Description
UPMC Somerset is seeking a dedicated and skilled CT Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform imaging procedures at a technical level that does not require constant supervision. This role involves a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This position will work rotating daylight and evening shifts with a weekend rotation and approximately three holidays per year.

Qualified candidates may be eligible for a $6,000 sign on bonus (with a two-year work commitment to UPMC)

Responsibilities:

- \n
- Perform computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration, without requiring constant supervision.
- Utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data, completing procedures according to protocol.
- Ensure all exams within your area of responsibility are properly coded and tracked through the RIS system, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are adequately entered for the exams performed.
- Administer PO, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy and assess patients for potential risk factors prior to the administration of contrast media.
- Communicate instructions to patients clearly and concisely, explaining procedures to help allay their fears and solicit their cooperation.
- Perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment to adjust protocols and apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes.
- Interact with both patients and co-workers, displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect. Work as a team member within the department and with other departments to expedite patient care efficiently.
- Identify all patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
- Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying specific departmental protocols for optimal results in data acquisition. Document patient history in the electronic record as required.
- Demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture and the use of a power injector according to department and/or manufacturer protocols.

- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of accredited CNMT program.
- ARRT registry eligible technologist must obtain ARRT registry within 6 months of hire date.
- CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained.
- CNMT graduates must obtain CNMT registry within 6months of hire date.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

- ARRT Certificate OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC)\n
- \n
- ARRT certified as a Radiologic Technologist is required or certified by a CNMT program. ARRT registry eligible technologist must obtain ARRT registry within 6 months of hire date.

- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)\n
- \n
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
