Utility Superintendent

PCC has serviced the tri-state area in sewer, water mains, roadwork and site work for over 39 years. PCC's clients include New York State and City agencies such as DOT, DEP, DDC, DPR, EDC, and SCA among others.
We are currently seeking a qualified Heavy Civil Utility Superintendent to join our team for an exciting and highly visible project.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the field operations and on-site crews, as well as achieving budget productions, planning/executing work safely and installation of all work to a high-quality standard. To be successful, this candidate should feel comfortable taking on many tasks that require various skills and appropriately prioritize those tasks' completion.
Responsibilities:
- Thorough understanding and familiarity with utility work, waste/storm water sewer & watermain work.
- Familiar with standard Support of Excavation (SOE) methods for different circumstances, along with handling of dewatering means/methods.
- Comprehend and administer Perfetto’s corporate safety program which provides for a safe work environment for all self-performed and subcontracted operations.
- Scheduling private utilities resources, familiarity experience when working around private utilities (eg: Con Ed, CET items, etc) a plus
- Manhole inspections & exploratory test pitting knowledge
- Reviewing/Agreeing with inspector on bid item quantities
- Mark-out / Utility Survey Layout work for foreman & crew
- Ordering & receiving materials with shop / procurement dept
- Coordinating labor & equipment need
- Generate and/or adopt to Perfetto’s quality requirements and culture; that recognizes the effect of quality on all self-performed operations.
- Supervise and direct field foreman and multiple labor crews to ensure productivity, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project are met; for all self-performed and subcontracted operations. Ability to schedule, plan & coordinate all work.
- Fully versed and familiar with all NYC Labor Union rules.
- Must be able to provide timely request for material and equipment needs necessary to support work schedule.
- Able to manage all self-perform craft on site, including subcontractors as required. General Contracting experience a must.
Education, Certifications & Work Experience:
- Minimum 10 year's heavy civil experience as a Utility Superintendent
- Heavy civil experience required
- Utility, water/sewer experience required
- Knowledge of Local NYC unions required
- NYCDDC a plus
- OSHA 30 required
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, standard means & methods); owner procedures and standards; company policies, and union jurisdiction, labor agreements.
- Must have excellent communication, organizational, supervisory and planning skills required.
- Excellent management skills.
Physical Demands
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit & climb as necessary.
- The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- At times will be working around large construction equipment, must be safety conscience.
- Subject to outside working conditions.
Additional Requirements/Skills
- Team player who understands and supports corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Strong Computer skills.
Base Salary
$120,000 - $190,000 (varies on experience and other factors)
