We are looking for a full-time Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant will provide Medical Assistant duties. Camp Lowell Cardiology is a fast-paced environment. We are looking for an employee who would like more than a job, but a career where they can thrive. Primary role of the Medical Assistant would be the following:
- Process prior authorizations for Echos, Nucs, and cardiac monitors.
- Set-up and assist with nuclear stress test: take blood pressure during test and in recovery, remove IV’s and give patient instruction.
- Prepare examination rooms by keeping all necessary supplies stocked and room cleaned before each appointment.
- Obtain and record vitals, weight, EKG’s, INRs, and changes in medical history.
- Review schedule and prepare charts for clinic obtaining procedures, labs, previous records, referrals, and other documents that are required for upcoming appointment.
- Prescriptions: follow providers orders, submit to pharmacy, call patient with information.
- Schedule sleep studies, cardiac monitors, cardioversion, submit for prior authorization, order equipment, provide patient instruction.
- Check phone messages and emails on a regular basis throughout the day. Prioritize urgency and respond appropriately.
- Clinical box checked and documents scanned.
- Inventory twice monthly to assure have needed supplies.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Medical Assistant.
- Must have completed a Medical Assistant accredited school program.
- Medical Assistant Certification a plus but not required.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record Systems (EMR).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook).
- Knowledge of the standards and regulations of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- HIPAA knowledgeable and maintain patient privacy and confidentiality according to privacy laws.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Effective communication and people skills.
- Ability to be flexible with schedule.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work cohesively with other team members.
