Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A 13-week contract opportunity is available for a Staff Pharmacist with experience in Long Term Care (LTC) and Mail Order pharmacy environments. This role requires a licensed pharmacist to work variable shifts Monday through Sunday, supporting medication management and patient care in a pharmacy setting focused on compliance and safety.
Schedule/Hours:
- Monday-Friday: Variable shifts between 9:30 AM - 8:30 PM (shifts include 9:30-6, 10-6:30, or 11-8:30)
- Saturday-Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal regulations.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and patterns of over-usage.
- Evaluate prescribed medications to ensure suitability and safety for patients.
- Maintain confidential and precise patient records and pharmacy files.
- Provide patient counseling on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer questions.
- Offer consultations regarding prescription and over-the-counter drugs, addressing storage, dosage, and interactions.
- Deliver patient services including smoking cessation support, blood pressure, and cholesterol monitoring.
- Educate patients on proper use and handling of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications according to precise procedures, including preparation of sterile solutions.
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians and clerks, to ensure smooth operations.
- Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory effectively.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related issues.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Valid Minnesota Pharmacy license required.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) pharmacy preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws and medication safety protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient and healthcare team interactions.
- Ability to supervise and guide pharmacy staff.
