About the Role:

The Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient flow of materials within the warehouse and production environments at AFBCO - ALLEGRA, AFBCA. This position is responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, supporting both shipping and receiving operations. The Material Handler ensures that inventory is managed effectively, utilizing warehouse management systems to track and organize stock.

By operating material handling equipment safely and efficiently, the role supports production operations and order fulfillment processes. Ultimately, this position contributes to maintaining a smooth supply chain and meeting production deadlines through diligent material management and teamwork.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, and order picking.
  • Ability to work overtime and adapt to flexible schedules as required.
  • Familiarity with bar code scanning and inventory tracking systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with warehouse management systems
  • Experience operating material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks optimal. Forklift certification a plus
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks to move materials safely within the warehouse and production areas.
  • Perform order picking accurately according to shipping and receiving documentation to fulfill customer and production requirements.
  • Utilize warehouse management systems to track inventory levels, update records, and ensure proper storage of materials.
  • Assist in loading and unloading shipments, verifying quantities and condition of received goods.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet production schedules and shipping deadlines, maintaining flexibility in work hours.
  • Support production operations by delivering required materials in a timely manner to avoid production delays.
  • Scan bar codes and maintain accurate documentation to ensure traceability and inventory accuracy.

Physical Requirements of a General Material Handler

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry items typically ranging from 25 to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
  • Standing and Walking: Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Bending and Stooping: Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping to pick up or move materials.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Ability to push and pull carts, pallets, or other equipment.
  • Climbing: May require climbing ladders or stairs.
  • Reaching and Handling: Frequent reaching above shoulder height and below the waist; manual dexterity for handling tools and materials.
  • Repetitive Motion: Performing repetitive tasks such as scanning, sorting, or packing.
  • Visual and Auditory Requirements: Adequate vision and hearing to safely operate equipment and identify materials.
  • Environmental Tolerance: Ability to work in varying temperatures, dusty environments, or around loud machinery.
