Job Title: Emergency Department (ED) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Location: Syracuse, NY
Job Type: Contract (Local or Travel)
Duration: 20 Weeks
Pay Rate:
- Local: Upto $27.62 per hour
- Travel: Upto $31.00 per hour
Schedule
- Mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts over a two-week period
- Every other weekend required
Job Overview
The Emergency Department (ED) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and supportive care to patients in a fast-paced emergency care setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed healthcare provider. This role supports patient intake, basic care, and efficient patient flow while maintaining a safe and organized environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures
- Obtain and record vital signs, height, weight, and intake/output, and report abnormalities
- Support patient intake, triage processes, and room preparation
- Assist with procedures such as wound care, splinting, EKGs, and specimen collection
- Transport patients to diagnostic areas and assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe care environment
- Ensure timely room turnover to support emergency department flow
- Follow infection control protocols and safety standards
- Document patient care activities accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Respond promptly to patient needs and assist during emergency situations
Qualifications
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (New York preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of recent CNA experience, preferably in an emergency department or acute care setting
- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
- Ability to remain calm and responsive in emergency situations
- Basic knowledge of emergency care procedures and patient safety protocols
