Job Title: Emergency Department (ED) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
Location: Syracuse, NY
Job Type: Contract (Local or Travel)
Duration: 20 Weeks

Pay Rate:

  • Local: Upto $27.62 per hour
  • Travel: Upto $31.00 per hour

Schedule

  • Mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts over a two-week period
  • Every other weekend required

Job Overview

The Emergency Department (ED) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and supportive care to patients in a fast-paced emergency care setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed healthcare provider. This role supports patient intake, basic care, and efficient patient flow while maintaining a safe and organized environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures
  • Obtain and record vital signs, height, weight, and intake/output, and report abnormalities
  • Support patient intake, triage processes, and room preparation
  • Assist with procedures such as wound care, splinting, EKGs, and specimen collection
  • Transport patients to diagnostic areas and assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe care environment
  • Ensure timely room turnover to support emergency department flow
  • Follow infection control protocols and safety standards
  • Document patient care activities accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Respond promptly to patient needs and assist during emergency situations

Qualifications

  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (New York preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent CNA experience, preferably in an emergency department or acute care setting
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to remain calm and responsive in emergency situations
  • Basic knowledge of emergency care procedures and patient safety protocols
