An opportunity is available for a registered nurse with expertise in step-down care, specializing in cardiac and medical-surgical telemetry patients. This contract position offers a dynamic environment within a well-regarded cardiac medical unit, focused on providing specialized care for patients transitioning from intensive care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive nursing care to cardiac step-down patients, including those with stroke overflow and medical-surgical telemetry cases
  • Managing complex clinical interventions such as chest tubes, thoracentesis, tracheostomies, pacemakers, and cardiac catheterizations
  • Administering advanced respiratory support including high-flow oxygen and BiPAP
  • Utilizing telemetry monitoring and performing patient assessments in a 20-bed unit with a 5:1 patient ratio
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality care and positive patient outcomes
  • Documenting patient care accurately using Meditech Expanse electronic health records
  • Participating in bedside shift rounds and handoffs to enhance patient experience

Qualifications/Desired Experience

  • Current RN licensure with proficiency in telemetry monitoring
  • Advanced clinical skills including experience with cardiac management and critical care procedures (thoracentesis, PD, tracheostomy care, pacemaker management)
  • Certifications required: ASLS, BLS
  • Familiarity with hospital policies and professional dress code standards
  • Ability to work 3 twelve-hour shifts per week with every other weekend on schedule
