Job Description
Join our team as a Painter's Assistant, working first shift from Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm. You will be involved in prepping, painting, and finishing truck bodies, utility beds, and custom equipment using Single Stage Liquid Spray painting techniques. This role requires hands-on work, including grinding and finishing on fiberglass, and the ability to wear a respirator.
Responsibilities
- Grind and hand-sand metal surfaces to remove rust, weld slag, and imperfections.
- Apply body filler and block sand to smooth out dents and seams.
- Mask off windows, lights, and hardware with precision to protect non-painted areas.
- Clean and degrease surfaces to ensure proper paint adhesion.
- Mix and match industrial-grade paints to spec using color charts and mixing systems.
- Apply primers, sealers, base coats, and topcoats using HVLP spray guns in a controlled booth.
- Maintain consistent coverage and finish quality across large truck bodies and components.
- Follow proper flash and cure times between coats.
Essential Skills
- Auto Body tech degree OR 1+ years of Auto Body paint experience
- Proficiency with HVLP spray guns
- Experience with industrial painting and auto body paint
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to lift 40 pounds overhead and in any direction
- Physical ability to climb, crawl, and stoop over truck bodies and aerial lifts
- Capability to stand all day and move in all directions
- Team player with a proactive attitude
- Adaptability to switch tasks quickly

Work Environment
Work in a medium-sized manufacturing and service shop with three distinct service areas, including a full paint booth. The environment is collaborative, with team members working closely together. Be prepared for a busy setting that may become cramped during peak times.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Hopkins, Minnesota.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $49920.00/yr.
Ichra Insurance with a 65% premium.
Dental, vision, $10k in life insurance.
PTO: 80 hours year 1, 120 hours years 2+. (They are not strict about PTO. If someone needs to step away they will not give anyone a hard time.)
