Equipment Maintenance Technician - Overnight Shift

Location: Sumter, SC
Shift: 3rd Shift | Monday–Friday | 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM
Pay Rate: $22.00/hour

Position Summary

The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, optimizing, and maintaining assigned production equipment to ensure efficient operation and minimal downtime. This role supports production goals by maintaining equipment performance, monitoring product quality, and performing preventative maintenance while adhering to plant procedures and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, optimize, and troubleshoot assigned production equipment to meet established quality and productivity standards.
  • Perform equipment changeovers, startup procedures, and ensure proper machine and control panel functionality.
  • Maintain equipment in proper working condition through adjustments, cleaning, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues involving pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Maintain accurate equipment logs, downtime reports, maintenance records, and production documentation.
  • Assist Manufacturing Technicians, Engineering, and Maintenance teams with major repairs as needed.
  • Monitor in-process quality and perform required quality control checks and process challenges.
  • Replenish machine components as needed and notify material handlers when inventory is low.
  • Inspect and clean part tracks to ensure smooth movement of component parts.
  • Ensure all safety guards are properly positioned and functional before and during operation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
  • Support efforts to minimize waste, reduce downtime, and exceed production standards.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining production equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of basic pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance and basic mechanical repairs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate production and maintenance logs with clear and legible handwriting.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing or production environment.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and quality documentation procedures.
  • Experience with machine setup, changeovers, and process optimization.
