Environmental Health & Safety Specialist | Lansing, MI
Salary Range: $63,000 - $96,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and risk analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety and environmental risks.
- Lead incident investigations for accidents, near misses, and environmental excursions, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs for all employees, including new hire orientation and specialized topic training.
- Manage hazardous waste streams, air emissions, and wastewater discharge in accordance with permits and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate EHS records, documentation, and reporting as required by regulatory agencies and internal policies.
- Support the development and implementation of emergency response plans and conduct drills to ensure preparedness.
Recommended Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- 3+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
- Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs (e.g., LOTO, confined space, HAZCOM, waste management).
- Ability to conduct EHS training, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and risk assessments.
- Relevant EHS certifications (e.g., ASP, CSP, CHMM) are highly desirable.
Bonus Qualifications
- Professional certification (e.g., CSP, ASP, OHST, CHMM).
- Experience with EHS management software platforms (e.g., Intelex, Gensuite, Cority).
- Proficiency in a second language, particularly Spanish.
- Demonstrated experience with industrial hygiene monitoring (e.g., noise, air quality, ergonomics).
- Internal auditing experience with ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 standards.
