Mechanical / Plumbing Project Manager
Salary: $80,000 – $140,000 (DOE)
Location: Farmington Hills, MI
Overview
A well-established commercial and industrial mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical / Plumbing Project Manager to join its growing team. This role will report directly to senior leadership and is responsible for managing multiple HVAC, piping, and plumbing projects from pre-construction through completion.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, proven project management experience, and the ability to lead teams while maintaining budgets, schedules, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of assigned mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC projects
- Set up and maintain projects in management software, including creating schedules of values (SOV)
- Review awarded contracts to ensure alignment with estimates, scope, and financial expectations
- Collect, review, and distribute material submittals
- Develop project-specific documentation and information books
- Interpret and analyze mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing drawings and specifications
- Procure and manage vendors and subcontractors
- Attend and lead weekly project progress meetings to coordinate schedules and workflows
- Plan and coordinate labor, supervision, subcontractors, materials, and logistics
- Support field leadership in enforcing and maintaining safety protocols
- Supervise internal teams and subcontractors throughout project execution
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining timelines and budgets
- Prepare, track, and process change orders accurately and in a timely manner
- Identify and support new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients
- Collaborate with internal teams across divisions to ensure project success
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of project management experience in mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC construction
- Strong ability to communicate with clients, construction managers, subcontractors, and field teams
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical specifications
- Solid understanding of construction methods, processes, and project lifecycle
Education & Experience
- Prior experience as a Project Manager is required
- Degree or certification in Construction Management or related field is a plus, but not required
